We all start our day with either a cup of coffee, a hot shower, or a cold shower, which is completely dependent on the amount of “remind me I’m alive!” you actually need!! – Or maybe you are running out the door zero minutes passed waking up to fly at Mach 10 speed to work! Just like a Superhero! Well, throughout the day, starting with the first greeting of the day, you are tasked with the natural option to connect or not connect… And yes, that is the question!
Whether it be your routine Starbucks drive-through stop or Coffee Bean in the district drop-in every morning, you are presented with whether you will connect with the barista or not. I personally have the most pleasant positive energy connections with my baristas, and the reward is delicious, smooth, and creamy coffee every time.
You see connections are not limited to sex or intimacy… They are in every interaction we have. We may connect with strangers platonically, briefly, or even simply with energy alone. No words, no big show.
You may connect with animals; they are the epitome of emotional intelligence. They sense everything, yet all they desire is to connect, give, and receive love from us humans.
Let’s change gears here. When you are looking to buy a home, you are looking to connect with an agent. You desire someone who sees your vision for what you are looking for, someone who you connect with, who will check off the boxes of your homely desires all within that darn budget.
The desire to connect with our soul mate is undeniable. Yet we must connect with ourselves first. We must connect with all that means anything to us. Connect with kindness, connect with peace, connect with love, and connect with patience. Then and only then are we prepared to connect with others in a healthy way.
Imagine connecting with someone, being vulnerable, learning them, and in return, them learning you. Being able to connect with no expectations and then connecting in love.
Trust yourself; be open. Connect with nature; the therapeutic effects are astronomical. The data cannot be denied. Connect with animals; go volunteer. One thing I have learned is that when you are either at a crossroads or you simply do not know what to do, go give of yourself. Go give to those who can do nothing for you. You can volunteer at animal shelters or soup kitchens. There are many resources available that you can give of yourself, where you have absolutely nothing to gain except the opportunity to be a better you.
